Positions

  1. 1. Land Surveyor

    Location: Elkton, Maryland

    McCrone is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or an experienced surveyor looking to become licensed to join our growing team. If you’re a motivated survey professional who enjoys leading projects, mentoring others, and utilizing the latest surveying technology, we’d love to hear from you.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Maryland (required)
    • 5–10+ years of progressive surveying experience
    • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot (Drone) License preferred, or willing to acquire a license.
    • Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and subdivision surveys
    • Experience managing survey projects from proposal through final deliverables
    • Proficiency with modern survey equipment, GPS, robotic total stations, and survey software
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
    • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for surface creation
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a variety of survey projects throughout Maryland and the surrounding region
    • Oversee field crews, crew schedules, and office staff while ensuring quality and accuracy
    • Review plats, legal descriptions, and survey deliverables
    • Coordinate with engineers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
    • Mentor and develop the next generation of survey professionals
    • Utilize innovative technologies, including UAV/drone surveying when applicable

  2. 2. Civil Project Engineer

    McCrone has an opening for a civil engineer with 5-10 years of land development design experience to join our team located in Centreville and Salisbury, MD. We are seeking a motivated self-starter to work on a variety of projects in the commercial, residential, and institutional sectors primarily located in Maryland with some work in the surrounding Mid-Atlantic states. Civil experience in Maryland areas is preferred, but not necessary.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform all facets of civil site design including site layout, land grading, stormwater management, roadway and utility infrastructure, and sediment and erosion control
    • Create CAD drawings, layouts, and production plans per local codes and standards, in addition to providing quality control
    • Prepare detailed stormwater management reports including computations for ESDv, drainage area delineation and runoff, storm drain flows, and HGLs, suitability reports, cost estimates, and other associated technical documents
    • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulatory agency reviewers throughout project duration
    • Handle permit processing and submittals with local and state agencies
    • Communicate with project team on workflow status and priorities in order to meet project goals
    • Prepare proposals for potential work and train other team members

    Education and Skills:

    • Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited
      college or university
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD® Civil 3D® required
    • Proficiency in HydroCAD, TR-55, and Maryland Stormwater Management design and computation preferred
    • Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or professional engineer (PE) license preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Technical excellence in engineering principles and practices
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Demonstrate precision, thoroughness, and diligence in handling tasks

  3. 3. Senior Electrical Engineer

    McCrone is a professional engineering firm that specializes in Industrial Design and Construction Management. We are seeking a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer who has design, project management, and construction experience to join the McCrone team in our Annapolis office.  This individual will be assigned as a lead engineer in the McCrone electrical group and work closely
    with our clients and other process engineers. We are looking for long term applicants who are responsible and knowledgeable of electrical design and construction.

    Full description

    The candidate will be responsible for the management of the electrical staff, quality control, project management, and review of design and construction documents. Additionally, the candidate will assist with the process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and instrumentation & control implementation.

    Responsibilities of this position during the design and construction phases of projects include:

    • Power Distribution, Motor Control, PLC Control System, Control Panels, Lighting, Facility Conduit and Wiring Design
    • Schematic and Logic Development
    • Extensive Knowledge and Implementation of the National Electric Code
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD®
    • Facility Construction Document and Shop Drawing Review
    • Facility Testing and Startup

    As a successful candidate you should have:

    • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Industrial Electrical Design, preferably in water and wastewater application
    • Professional Engineer license in Maryland or ability to obtain
    • Project Management experience
    • Quality focus with attention to detail

  5. 5. Civil Designer

    McCrone is looking for a highly motivated, task-oriented, civil designer to join our team.  We need a creative problem-solver who can manage and complete critical design tasks for multiple residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects.  This is the perfect career opportunity for an individual with a strong desire to build and enhance their professional skills and expertise.

    Responsibilities:

    • Site layout, grading, storm drainage, roads, utility infrastructure and erosion and sediment control design.
    • Stormwater management and stormwater design.
    • Prepare CAD drawings, layouts and plans as directed that conform to local codes and standards.
    • Prepare project plan and detail sheets.
    • Prepare as-built plan sets as well as plats and easement exhibits.
    • Assist with permitting and preparation of bid documents and specifications.

    Education and Skills:

    • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology is preferred and at least 5+ years of civil design experience is required.
    • Must demonstrate broad-based knowledge of standard methods in civil design.
    • Must be able to check plan design for accuracy after initial drafting plans are completed and note any discrepancies and necessary changes.
    • Must demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD® Civil 3D®.
    • Must have the ability to complete design tasks as assigned by a project manager or project engineer in a timely manner.
    • Must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work with team members.
